Veterinary and Surgery Excellence
HVS is Manhattan’s first and only surgery-exclusive veterinary hospital. With a wealth of experience, our board-certified surgeons and highly skilled veterinary care team place their sole focus on medical and surgical excellence and top-grade medical outcomes. We are fully equipped to handle a full range of surgeries in our 10,000 square foot hospital, which houses dedicated orthopedic and soft tissue ORs, a CT machine for advanced imaging and quiet recovery areas. The HVS anesthesia team includes an on-staff anesthesiologist and licensed veterinary technicians specializing in anesthesia. Additionally, we provide overnight postoperative care for close monitoring and nursing care.

Exceptional Client Experience
Our Upper West Side surgery hospital provides the highest level of care to both patients and clients. Our dedicated Surgery Liaison and client care team are here to be a guide and partner throughout the HVS experience.They help coordinate appointments, schedule procedures, refill medications, and answer any questions. Our veterinary team will walk clients through what to expect for their pet before, during, and after surgery. We are here to answer any questions clients may have to help minimize the stress and concerns that can often accompany surgery.

At HVS, we deeply appreciate and value the trust the referring veterinary community places in us. Our commitment to excellence extends far beyond the OR. We provide timely updates, comprehensive case summaries, and consistent communication to each client’s primary veterinarian so they are up to date every step of the way. Anesthesia and Hospitalization at HVS

Anesthesia‍‍

We know having a pet undergo anesthesia can be a stressful experience, which is why we have a skilled anesthesia team solely dedicated to performing and monitoring anesthesia. With a consulting anesthesiologist and full-time Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Anesthesia & Analgesia on staff, we are committed to providing a seamless anesthesia experience for patients and clients. HVS is equipped with cutting-edge anesthetic equipment with additional safety features such as anesthetic ventilators and advanced monitoring capabilities. Patients’ anesthetic protocols will be tailored to their needs, with careful consideration of any pre-existing medical conditions, anxiety, and previous anesthetic events to ensure they are comfortable throughout their stay and recovery.

Hospitalization

‍‍Following a surgical procedure at HVS, most pets will stay overnight for attentive nursing and post-op care so we can closely monitor and provide appropriate pain management before heading home. Our inpatient ward is complete with spacious enclosures, comfortable bedding, and oxygen if a pet requires that extra support. A dedicated inpatient team will care for patients after their procedure. Our overnight veterinarian and team provide this dedicated care to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience from intake to discharge.
