Total Hip Replacement Surgery

Advanced Surgical Solutions for Canine Hip Dysplasia and Osteoarthritis

At HVS, we offer total hip replacement (THR) as a long-term solution for dogs with severe osteoarthritis secondary to hip dysplasia, avascular necrosis, chronic hip dislocations and/or severe fractures of the femoral head or neck. When conservative therapies no longer provide relief, THR can restore comfort, function, and mobility—dramatically improving a patient’s quality of life.

Performed by board-certified surgeon Dr. Matt Raske, one of the few veterinarians in New York City trained to perform this procedure, THR replaces the diseased hip joint with a prosthetic implant. Each case begins with careful patient selection and a thorough preoperative consultation to ensure THR is the right treatment path.

Why Choose THR?

  • Restore normal joint function
  • Long-term pain relief
  • Provide excellent quality of life
  • High success rate

What to Expect

Following a detailed consultation, the surgical evaluation includes the use of advanced imaging to assess the joint and confirm candidacy. Eligible patients undergo surgery at our fully equipped, surgery-exclusive facility. Postoperative care includes overnight monitoring by our doctor-led inpatient team, supported by a board-certified anesthesiologist and criticalist to ensure safe recovery and optimal pain control.
